Elder Hansen's Headed Home and Transfers

So how was the Utah football game? Did you take any pictures? For thanksgiving I didn't eat beans this year. I had some chicken and rice, so it;s kinda like turkey. It was a weird week. My comp left to go home. He is in Vina now visiting all his people. Yesterday when he left, he started to cry on the bus. It finally hit him that he is going home. We had a good week though. We had two people come to church, which was good, but one is moving to Vina in a week.

Today I am in Los Vilos again. So that is fun, It's weird being back here. We played soccer today. Then a member is taking us out to the field to go look at that, so that is really good. I am excited for that. Tonight we are going to have a family home evening with one of my favorite members here, so that is exciting. I am honesty a little nervous for who is going to be my new companion. We will see how long we will stay together. It could be for one more change. It should be good though.

That is funny that Molly and Madyn told Mark that I was their favorite uncle. I am glad they still remember who I am. When my companion and I get back to Salamanca, I will have to be the secretary and the first counselor for a little bit. So that is going to be weird. We are going to have to learn how to do MLS system together.

Today the assistants called us and an Elder that I am with asked if he would tell me who my new companion was. They wouldn't tell us. Thank you a ton for the packages. I opened the candy, but I put the rest of it in the closet for Christmas. My comp left some shirts, shoes and some pants, so I should be good for the rest of my mission. I am glad everyone had a good time at Thanksgiving.  It sounded like it was fun and crazy. Have good week.

Conference

So they don't do anything for Thanksgiving here. Last year I had a bowl of beans, but its o.k. This is my last Thanksgiving away. Then the next year I will have a Thanksgiving again. I think they switched the day of Elder Hansen's homecoming to the 27 of December, so I don't know if you will be able to make it. It will be close to Christmas.

This week was crazy. We have traveling on buses a ton over the past little bit. The roads have steep canyons going down to Mesa. So Sunday we went to the conference. We had to get all the money from tithing and fast offerings. Our president of the branch didn't come, so we had to do all that. We didn't leave anyone on the bus ride and we didn't crash, so it was good. The conference was so good. I saw a lot of people from Los Vilos that I haven't seen in over a year. Next week when I go down there, I think one of my favorite ladies that I have met on my mission said she would sign up for lunch, so that will be good to see them again. Then we went to Los Vilos for the conference with President Diaz. It was really good. He is so different from President Kahnlein. Like during lunch he would tell us jokes and was very interactive during the break times, so that was really fun. We learned a lot about the Book of Mormon so that was really good. This week the national dance competition was in Salamanca so we watched that for a minute to get some pictures and some videos.

Transfers are next week, but I know I am getting a new companion since Elder Hansen is going home. On next Wednesday I will have my new companion as I know whats going to happen. It's the next transfers that are going to be the interesting one. But that is not for a while, so I will just have to see what happens then.

By the way, I got the two packages this week. Thanks a ton and thanks to Grandpa and Grandma Gillies for the letters. You asked me about that lady that got mad and left church.  She is ok now, and she talked about baptism a little more this week. She said she only wants to get baptized in a river. So we are going to have to see how that works out. It should be good. It sounds cold in Wyoming.  It's hot down here, but its good. It's just he beginning of the summer. We will have to see what happens come January and February. That is about it this week. Have a good week.

Trip to Canela

Sounds like you are keeping the roads hot this week. That is good that the basketball team won and that is not good that the football team lost. Maybe they will have a chance to win the Rose Bowl or are they out of that running?

This week we went to Canela to go help out with the branch. It was really fun. We went out with all 12 missionaries. I guess the closest thing I have had to a zone activity during my mission would be the hour long car ride on the way back from Canela. This week we will have a conference with the mission president so that should be good. I am excited for that. Then we will go to Los Vilos on Sunday for the district meeting, so that will be good.  I will get to  see a lot of people who I haven't seen in over a year. It is getting really hot down here. Like it says eighty, but the sun just gets to you. This week we did some service. We were taking out dirt for a lady and I had a little pick thing. We had like five minutes left to finish and she didn't tell me there was a pipe under the dirt. I smoked that thing and water came shooting. That wasn't good, but there were some guys who come to fix it/ She didn't get mad. Then we were on the bus to go to Los Vlllos when two little kids threw up. Ii felt really so bad for the mom. I thought my comp was going to get sick and lose it too. He has a very weak stomach. Lol!  We  had a guy ask us about polygamy. He told us he walked like 30 miles to get home. I asked him if he spent those 30 miles looking for more wives. It was pretty funny. Yesterday at church the sisters were fighting in the Relief Society with all the women. Our investigator left the church mad, so we are going to have to see what happens with her now. Hopefully she still wants to come back to church after that!  Life is interesting.  Other them that, I am doing good. Have a good week.

Crazy Sunday

So this week we did a ton of service. After church Sunday, we gave a lady a blessing because she wasn't feeling well. After the blessing she gets up and then she passed out. I tried to catch her, but she fell on my leg and that broke her fall a little bit.  The week's here are never boring. There is always something new happening. We get to church yesterday and the Branch President didn't tell two people they had to talk. We told the people that they were supposed to talk, so since they didn't know, we just had her give her testimony. She did it like the length of a talk and she was so worried. I don't know why, but she gets up there and says to everyone that no one told her. I was up on the stand and I was thinking why would you say something like that. There are investigators here, but oh well, she said it. We went to go see Llamilett and it got worse. The dad went and cheated on the mom. I hope she just kicks him out. The only thing that that guy hasn't done is kill her and if he gets to drunk, honestly i think it could be possible.

So this week we were out contacting and a drunk guy comes up and he starts singing to us and telling us how he needs to give up the booze and all that stuff. We shared a scripture with him so that he would stop crying and then to finish it off, the guy kissed me. I don't know why all the drunk people kiss me! I wanted to hit him.

We went to talk to the family about Pablo. They said he may be listening to us just for his girlfriend, so we are going to have to see what happens with him. We also heard that one of our investigators might get married. I don't know when, but that would be really good because the guy knows the church is true and could help a lot here. She would be good too for the primary because she works with little kids all day. The lady that is in there now is just too old. She can't handle the little kids. Oh yeah, yesterday coming in to church for sacrament meeting a little kid just threw up everywhere. My comp said he about lost it. Good thing he held it together!

Hope everything is going good with you guys. Tell Brian Covolo to tell Brandi congrats on her wedding. Have a good week.

P.S.  I slept through the first earthquake Saturday morning at 4:30 and was in the shower when the second quake hit. Glad it wasn't a super major one!

Another Good Week

So this week was another good one like they are in the mission. Yesterday after church we went to Canela for a meeting. It was like an hour and a half both ways in the car, so that was pretty much our day yesterday. The church in Canela is cool. It's a house church. I will go to Canela again in a few weeks, so I will have to take a picture of the church. With tithing settlement, we aren't done yet. We aren't even close, because the president of the branch works 10 days on, 10 days off and it is 24 hours north, so he loses three days, so we still have a lot of work to do. This week we had to do a search and rescue, but we found the kid and everything is good. He got mad at his parents, so he just left. We got a call from his parents asking if we could help us look for their kid in town. Then this week the box springs were to big for a bed, so we did service and I cut it all down and then made it smaller. I will never do that again. It's not worth it! There were like a thousand staples in that thing, so that wasn't fun, but we got it done.

We should have a conference in a few weeks with President Diaz. I thought he would wait for Christmas to do something, but maybe he has something else planned. There is a seventy coming at the end of the month, so that will be good too. We didn't have to wait too long to have another one come, so I am excited about that. Halloween was better this year. Last year more people left town. On Sunday, the members gave us some candy, so that was good for the car ride up to Canela. Our investigators are having problems, so we are going to have to figure out what we are going to do with them. That is good Utah won. They need to keep winning. Other then that, not much is going on. I hope you have a good week.
